Application & Database Engineer

Role & Responsibilities Outline:

The role of the Application and Database Engineer is to ensure the developing, implementing, managing and providing of assistance for all business and office software applications and databases that are used by the company, and that all reporting is issued timely and with desired accuracy.

The Application and Database Engineer main role and responsibilities:

• Ensures daily assistance for all business and office application servers and client workstations (., the ERP software application, including BI, the PM software application, the collaboration applications, the Internet and Intranet web sites, the DMS software application, the IT Helpdesk and all other business and office applications).
• Installs, implements and / or updates all business and office applications (planning, testing, launching).
• Creates and / or develops in-house bespoke software applications, upon client’s request, including maintaining those applications up and running.
• Registers and assists end-users, to ensure the using of business and office applications in a controlled manner.
• Communicates, when needed, with the IT Manager, with the Business Applications Administrator and / or with the other Application and Database Engineers, to resolve any potential issues in a timely manner and to minimize interruptions.
• Creates, tests, implements and updates regularly, on a weekly / monthly / twice a year basis, all procedures related to business and office applications.
• Performs tests and evaluations regularly, to ensure data security, privacy and integrity.
• Collaborates with the rest of the IT department specialists, to address all departmental issues in a quick and efficient manner.
• Ensures that all business reports are issued in a timely manner and with the desired accuracy.
• Documents or participates in documentation of the functioning and operation of individual modules of various bespoke business applications developed internally, on demand, in case such a documentation is not in place.
• Uses high-speed transaction recovery techniques and data back-ups.
• Monitors database performance, implements changes and applies new patches and versions when required.
• Provides proactive and reactive data management support and training to end-users.

We are looking for candidates with the following profile:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / Engineering / Economics.
• A minimum of 7-year proven experience in developing business and / or office applications (., ERP, DMS, designing web pages), and / or in database management (., MS SQL, Oracle, IBM DB2, MySQL, etc.). Any certification will be taken into consideration.
• Very good knowledge of hardware and software technologies based on MS Windows / Unix / Linux operating systems. Any certification will be taken into consideration.
• Good knowledge of programming and / or scripting languages (C/C++, C#, Visual Basic, Java, Javascript, PHP, etc.). Any certification will be taken into consideration.
• Experience in project planning and management.
• Fluent in English, both in speaking and in writing (CEFR B2 level).
