Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Java Developer, you will join a team helping customers to meet their business objectives and deliver development and maintenance services for existing bespoke business applications as well as of future projects and proof-of-concepts. The team covers responsibility areas like: Software architecture, Software Development, Database Development, testing, and maintenance. Your daily activities will vary from technical analysis, design, development, testing to release changes. You will also troubleshoot issues as necessary while providing great customer service. You will also be able to learn on the job and develop your skills.
Primary Responsibilities
- Developing service / application Specifications.
- Programming new business and technical functionalities in line with user needs.
- Developing automated tests, builds, deployments and continuous integration pipelines.
- Performing application testing activities (e.g. unit test) in development environment (DevEnv).
- Performance investigation and optimization by adjusting application code and/or design/refactoring of the application components where required.
- Creating application artefacts and packages for application deployment and integrating these artefacts/packages via the CI/CD pipeline.
- Participating in specification, development, and deployment workshops over the course of the application development lifecycle.
- Further develop and optimize the software factory toolchain for each application to provide faster, secure and high-quality software deployments.
- Supporting the translation of the business to the IT requirements.
- Understanding the data models of the service / application and the interfaces to the data sources and data sink.
- Using appropriate and up to date application development methodology and tools.
- Using service / application development strategies for maintenance.
- Using required programming / scripting languages.
- Using required libraries and software development management tools.
- Using required test tools for automated and manual testing as well as for test documentation.
- Create and update operational documentation according to the client standards.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Working experience in agile projects following the agile methodology Scrum
- Considerable experience developing complex bespoke applications Java, JSP & Servlets, Web frameworks like Struts and Spring, Webservices (SOAP/REST), Web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, JQuery, XML JSON, Angular, RichFaces, PrimeFaces, Hibernate and Spring framework
- Working knowledge of Apache Tomcat, Apache Webserver, Microsoft Internet Information Services
- Sound knowledge of architectural patterns and distributed systems problems and solutions.
- Working knowledge in Oracle Database administration with PL/SQL skills.
- Working knowledge of relational database systems (especially Oracle Database on Exadata ) and ability to write complex queries;
- Experience in analyzing and optimizing the performance of applications including underlying SQL queries;
- Working knowledge on CI/CD, DevOps, Code quality/security inspection solutions: inter alia GitLab, JFrog Artifactory, SonarQube and JFrog Xray. Working experience on create and maintain CI/CD pipelines. Experience in packaging and release deployment including technical testing;
- Working experience with a major Cloud hosting solution provider, preferably AWS, GCP, Azure incl. working knowledge in Kubernetes platforms and Docker containers technology
- Demonstrated implementation of microservices, container and cloud-native application development, in particular working experience in adapting applications from on-prem hosting to cloud-native applications running in container environments.
