BI Business Analyst has an important role in the implementation of new data reporting initiatives, by performing business analysis and requirements management in collaboration with the various business units (BU) and functional departments, as well as consulting during User Acceptance Testing.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Performs business analysis & requirements management in collaboration with the Business Units
● Ensures complete and correct definition of the Business Requirements in the specific format
● Involved in maintenance of a report inventory/catalogue (mapped to common terms & definitions) monitored by the CDO centrally for the organization; Initially and on an on-going basis, involved in review process of existing reports of each division / department and overall organization in order to identify and agree on (a) Required reports, (b) Reports requiring re-design, (c) Obsolete reports for decommissioning
● Drives the design of common reporting templates
● Validates together with the Business Units the request form, this way ensuring that the proposed solution covers the requests from the business line
● Clarifies all open issues related to the Business Requirements, including those issues which can appear during analysis and development phases
● Defines together with Business Unit representatives reconciliation criteria if/where needed (. initial implementation, test case scenarios for UAT, on-going periodical checks, etc.)
Provides training, knowledge materials and relevant proactive support to the Business Units
● When necessary, delivers content to the Business Units and performs end-user training
● Supports and participates in other training and end-user enablement as needed
Provides input/insight and offers clarifications, if needed, regarding the following functions:
● Report usage, data consumption and analytics: providing end-user support as needed
● Ensure that business requirements are correctly and accurately represented in initiatives, also clarifying fit/relevance to pre-existing solutions
● Providing support if/where needed in Data Governance and Data Quality initiatives;
● Estimation and demand management process: providing supporting input if/where required
Broadly understanding of:
● Relational database management systems and how datamarts are built
● Designing/development in BI tools
● ETL process
Requirements :
Education: Bachelor or Master degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science or equivalent
Relevant Experience:
Experience as a Business Analyst:
● Work together with business units, development teams and other Subject Matter Experts in order to define functional specifications, communicate requirements and deadlines
● Manage the User Acceptance Testing from the development of testing strategy to the execution of test scripts and follow-up of the resolution of bugs
● Develop training plans, develop training material, and deliver training
● Experience in the full lifecycle of the development process
Strong knowledge and extensive practical experience in using the necessary/relevant tools, particularly: Business Intelligence tools (. Qlik, Cognos, SQL, etc)
Sound knowledge of the financial industry & main banking operations
● Strong knowledge of banking & finance fundamentals, retail/commercial banking products, and back/middle & front office operations
● General awareness of the software/applications supporting banking products/services is desired
● Good knowledge of regulatory reporting frameworks and other compliance related reporting requirements such as NBR reporting, COREP, FINREP, etc.
Communication skills:
● Strong written and verbal communication skills, can effectively synthesize, visualize, and present ideas and results.
