Chief accountant

We are looking for a professional accountant with leadership skills and proven experience in Romanian accounting methodology, IFRS reporting and excellent planning competencies, which is open to change, enthusiastic in working with projects and has an attitude of continuous improvement of processes and quality of work is key for success.

The Chief Accountant role involves coordinating the local Accounting team of, including offering technical support on accounting matters, coaching and making sure compliance with laws is met and deadlines are followed.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the daily operations and accounting bookings by reviewing trial balance accuracy;
• Supervise and successfully completes the process of month and year-end tasks in line with statutory and regulatory guidelines and group policy;
• Manage the preparation of the statutory financial statements and monthly reporting to group and authorities (ANCOM, Statistics, NBR);
• Monthly financial reporting in line with group policies, including controlling and monitoring of expense budged realization;
• Monitor and analyze P&L and Balance sheet transactions and ensure their correctness; deal with eventual discrepancies; review and confirm the overall correctness of P&L and BS statements;
• Ensure accuracy on the statutory, tax and regulatory reporting;
• Lead, support and complete the external financial and tax audit process;
• Service level agreements: executes procedures for charging between legal entities;
• In charge with documentation and preparation of the transfer pricing file;
• Develop and maintain internal control and effective accounting system in compliance with local legislation, and implementation of the company's financial policies and accounting procedures;
• Involved in new business developments validating accounting flows by: proposing accounting, entries required, highlighting accounting and fiscal implications, validating accounting software flow set-up to comply with finance and accounting rules;
• Actively involvement and initiative for any new technological systems implementation, process standardization and improvements of accounting techniques and methods;
• Coordinate the implementation of new accounting software as well as any new application and software development with impact in accounting processes;
• Being up-to-date with the latest accounting laws and procedures take action to address changes if needed.

Required Skills/Experience:

• 8 years in financial field, out of which 3 of experience at a senior level
• Certified Public Accountant, ACCA, Management Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor /Financial Analyst is an advantage
• Accounting, tax and supervisory rules and regulations
• Ability to deal tactfully, confidently and in time with internal and external stakeholders

Competencies:

• University degree in Economics
• Proactive attitude for preventing and solving financial and accounting issues
• Good knowledge of spoken and written English
• Analytical skills
• PC literate, especially level of Excel – Advanced
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Abilities to organize, plan and prioritize in a dynamic environment
• Drive for results, with focus on timely and complete delivery
