A Construction Manager is part of the Project Management Department.
The electrical construction manager is the representative of the company on the construction site. The construction manager is responsible for the overall management of electrical field activities including all construction activities, field engineering, administration, interfaces with the client, field organization and supervision of the contractors activities, last but not least safety!

 

Duties and responsibilities

 You are an Electrical discipline specialist, with the technical experience to understand the substantive projects challenges. As an organizer you can make a complex project manageable. Multidisciplinary thinking is a must. You are responsible for Construction supervision. You are client-oriented. You always strive to achieve the best possible result for your clients.

 

  • Performs and serves as a discipline Construction Manager for construction programs.
  • Ensures all work is completed in compliance with the established procedures for Electrical discipline.
  • Advises Project Manager with regard to all aspects of construction contract administration matters.
  • Oversees project administration by monitoring the activities of discipline contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with the contract documents.
  • Monitors field related project issues and handling discipline engineering problems effectively and timely.
  • Assists Construction Engineer and/or Operations Engineer in administration of the construction office by reviewing, analyzing and making decisions or recommendations on contract and engineering specification interpretation, scope and intent of contracts, time extensions, supplemental agreements and claims or disputes.
  • Assists the proper preparation and timely submittal of project documentation by the Project Administrator (Monthly Estimate, Supplemental Agreements, Monthly Status Reports, Contractor’s rating, etc.). This position will make field reviews and inspections.
  • If required, attends pre-construction conference meetings.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the processing of Supplemental Agreements, Work Orders, Change Orders, Time Extensions, and Time Suspensions to ensure they are accurate and completed in a timely manner. Support the preparation of the daily work reports and diaries, as required
  • Prepares correspondence as necessary to document project conditions.
  • Support that monthly documentation (Status Report, Weather Letter, Contractor’s Past Performance, etc.) are prepared as required.
  • Ensures that the discipline project files are maintained in accordance with Department requirements.

Required knowledge and experience

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5+  years’ work experience as an Electrical discipline specialist Construction/Site
  • Experience with Site management and Construction supervision
  • Holder of relevant license for inspections
  • Strong understanding of engineering, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers
  • Planning, cost and progress control experience for the construction works
  • Experience with managing (international) stakeholders
  • Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, AutoCad/ArchiCad
  • English (min. B2)
  • Driving license – cat. "B"
  • Responsibility, independence, teamwork skills, communication skills

  • Supervise people; direct, monitor and inspect engineering projects
