Cost Engineer

Brings technical expertise into the Purchasing department by analyzing products and components. Identifies opportunities to reduce Direct Material Costs or manufacturing related costs within developing  or serial production phase.

 • Analyze purchased components, identify and quantify savings opportunities in a wide range of technologies (. stamping, injection molding, die-casting, forging, machining and assembly)

• Evaluate supplier quotations and provide “should-cost” (targeted cost) calculations to support Commodity and Project Purchasing during supplier negotiations 

• Plan and execute cost workshops at suppliers with the aim to optimize costs

• Develop cost models for main component categories to support Purchasing during negotiations

• Support Engineering groups by providing input about cost drivers and cost reduction opportunities during the design phase

• Support APS-workshops at suppliers with cost information for production optimization.

• Support Sales with cost information when requested
