Yellow Tree Group is a European group focused on the acquisition, development and management of real estate assets in Europe. The Group deals in a wide range of real estate asset classes through designated project companies and special purpose vehicles. The group has under management assets totaling aroundsqm and an aggressive expansion and growth plan for the next 18 to 24 months.

 

With a new management team in place and strong financial backing we are looking to build and strengthen our finance team in order to keep up with our ambitious growth plans.

Role description

The Group Financial Controller will play an important role in assisting the Group CFO in managing the finance function and providing a best in class service to the management team, Board and shareholders. They will establish and maintain strong core financial processes, controls and disciplines, ensuring the Group adheres to accounting, regulatory and local authority requirements at all times. They ensure effective management control of the Group’s finances via the efficient use of appropriate financial systems and processes, use of financial information and associated performance indicators. They provide professional advice and regular and ad hoc reports on the financial performance of the Group and support new acquisitions to support effective decision making.

 

Key accountabilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to their direct reports which alongside the outsourced advisors provide group wide financial reporting and control, statutory, regulatory and government reporting, tax, insurance, accounting services and financial systems and processes.
  • With support from the outsourced provider lead the production of the group management accounts, regulatory accounts, government financial returns and the identification and reporting of the group’s tax obligations.
  • Maintain best in class accounting practices and financial disciplines and controls throughout the Group. Lead the development of Group financial reporting, control framework and policies. Monitor compliance and work with the business to improve.
  • Maintain and develop systems of reporting that provide the management team with accurate and timely information on the financial performance of the group and financial modelling required to support cash management and corporate planning.  Develop the analytical capability with the organisation to understand drivers of financial performance and actions to initiate improvements.
  • Lead cost saving/efficiency projects alongside the operations team and ensure systems and processes throughout the organisation are best in class
  • Support the ambitious growth plans by close working with the sales and management team and via the evaluation of new asset acquisition opportunities and ownership of the associated financial models and data.
  • Manage a professional, technically proficient, proactive and motivated finance team
  • Manage and monitor the external accounting services provider in line with agreed SLAs
  • Regular interaction with funding providers, advisors, tax and audit service providers and authorities.


Skills and competencies

Real estate experience

  • Significant experience (5 years+) working in the finance function of a  real estate organisation as a financial controller or a similar role

Management experience

  • A proven business partner versed in setting and reviewing annual budget and rolling forecasts.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial information to the CFO and the management team and make recommendations for the existing business as well as new acquisitions
     

Technical knowledge/skills

  • Qualified accountant  (5 years plus) with experience in managing a finance team and with real estate commercial experience
  • Manage the budgeting and the implementation of budgets/forecasts and monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally as necessary

Data and management information

  • Sourcing and analysing detailed performance management information for internal and external consumption

 

Leadership

  • Skilled communicator with the ability to influence and motivate others
  • Problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to analyse and present large volumes of data, identify key issues and actions and drive resolution
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Highly self-motivated, personable and outgoing with a strong passion to deliver exceptional results

 

Skills/Attributes required

  • Fully qualified Accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Previous experience in a similar position, including experience of providing Financial Control across a group of companies
  • Sound and up to date knowledge of accounting standards and taxation matters
  • Real estate experience
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Excellent Excel modelling skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Fluency in English and Romanian
