Position Overview:

We are looking for a creative website designer/developer to join our team, on contract, to develop multiple WordPress-based websites that will serve as engaging front-ends for our web applications and/or company websites for our various clients.  

This job involves a good understanding of both graphic design (mastery of Adobe Creative Suite) and proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other common programming languages. Currently, this is a freelance/contract role.  However, we are open to your joining our team on a part-time basis with the option to convert to a full-time position at a mutually convenient time.

Position Responsibilities

• Develop clean and engaging websites from concept to completion using WordPress templates and other plug-ins.  Responsibilities include code modifications to selected WordPress templates, and other plug-ins to meet design/functionality requirements.

• Review client-supplied content and provide (independently, or in collaboration with other graphic designers) visually appealing, responsive, and user-friendly layout/design options for our clients to choose.

• Manage time and multiple competing priorities; collaborate with various internal and external parties regarding site designs and participate in client meetings to communicate status and other design needs.

• Manage updates and maintain sites with the help of our IT manager for the various clients

• Learn new web technologies/tools and report on them as needed to help maintain competitiveness

• Help maintain a positive, highly collaborative, execution-focused team environment

Job Requirements:

Must Have:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in designing websites using WordPress templates and other plug-ins (sliders, web forms, image gallery tools, etc.) and modifying them without breaking upgradability

• Strong understanding of UI/UX design concepts, cross-browser compatibility, and responsive layouts.

• Experience with A-B testing, heat mapping, etc. for optimization of content/layout for providing excellent user experiences.

• Experience with SEO/SEM, Google analytics tools, and web security practices

• Familiarity developing with HTML5, CSS, jQuery, AJAX, JSON, ReactJS, PHP, etc.

• Experience with graphics design (Adobe Creative Suite) and the use of color variations for delivering visually compelling yet clean websites

• Integrating data from various back-end services and databases

• Stay current with the industry trends and best practices

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Independent (ability to work remotely), self-starter and collaborative team player

Nice to Have

• Experience with visual communication requirements

• Familiarity integrating with social media sites

• Experience with other website design templates such as Joomla and Drupal

• Experience developing eCommerce sites
