Front-End Web Developer

As a Front-End Web Developer you will be responsible for building the front end of a web application, which encompasses everything that the user sees and interacts with. You will be sharing both marketing and development departments so you will need to assist both when it comes to front-end coding. As more and more focus is being placed on rich, interactive web applications, the latest interactions of HTML and CSS are necessary additions to the toolbox.

Responsibilities:

• Develop functional and appealing web and mobile applications based on usability
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI / UX designs
• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
• Provide website maintenance and enhancements
• Use a combination of markup languages to write web pages
• Create a quality mockups and prototypes on tight timelines
• Assist back-end developers with coding, testing and troubleshooting
• Create cascading style sheets (CSS) that are consistent across all browsers and platforms
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

Professional experience and skills:

• Proficient understanding of web markup, including JSP, HTML5 and CSS3
• Understanding of the entire web development process, including design, development and deployment, with some back-end knowledge (java desirable)
• Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as Photoshop
• Experience with responsive and adaptive design
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git
• Proficient understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application with adhere to them
• Good understanding of Javascript libraries and frameworks, such as jQuery, AngularJS
• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
• Optimize applications for maximum speed
• The ability to solve problems and adapt quickly to new web design and application trends
• Expertise in performance optimization using tools such as YSlow or PageSpeed
• Strong communication skills
