Miele Tehnica is a subsidiary of Miele & Cie. KG, Germany. We produce electronic components for a wide range of Miele appliances, such as washing machines, tumble dryers, vacuum cleaners, ovens and other household appliances. The products Miele offers to its customers set the standards for durability, performance, ease of use, energy efficiency, design and service.
Our Software & Hardware Development department is continuing to grow. As a result, we are looking for two leaders, with strategic responsibility, in the role of Head of Development Unit – one for Electronic Products Development and one for Digital Products Development.
The role of Head of Development Unit is part of Brasov Management Team. He/she will lead his unit by enabling the employees to work efficient and develop in their career, derives the unit goals from department goals and will be responsible for the unit budget.
Managing the complete development unit, he/she will work closely with the Director Software Technology BV Plant in order to achieve the business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Define together with the director of the Software Department the strategy and goals of the unit; plan and monitor the successful implementation of this strategy;
- Establish clear organizational structures and succession plans aligned with appropriate responsibilities, accountabilities and personal development for all staff of the Unit, in line with any anticipated growth;
- Prioritize, budget and allocate projects and resources in line with business priorities for the development unit;
- Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization;
- Implement consistent standards and approaches throughout the development teams;
- Responsible for his/her own work planning in line with the objectives set together with the Director;
- Ensure effective internal communications both within the software development team and across the organization;
- Ensure that the skills and experience of Software Development team are consistent with its scientific, technological and business needs in order to provide quality for the present and future services;
- Responsible for the quality and technical approach taken by team members, ensuring it is in-line with the company strategy – and that projects are delivered on time and on budget;
- Facilitate the decision making throughout team regarding technology and methodology , including standardization of system architecture, reusable code base development, versions of software tools, best practice, source control and deployment processes;
- Responsible for technical recruitment, appraisals, one to one meetings, identifying training needs and motivating the team;
- Driver of innovation and improvement projects;
- Ensure participation of the unit in academic and external events;
Education:
- Bachelor or Master (preferable) degree in Computer Science, Electronic/Electrical Engineering or a related field;
Experience:
- Management experience in software development field more than 2 years
- A former software development engineer with strong, successful and proved technical and people lead experience
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
