Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer your primary focus will be supporting our team of Data Processors and Analysts in doing their day-to-day job. Through automation and consolidation of information, you will facilitate the management and analysis of the data on our platforms, thus improving the quality of the information we provide to students. You’re tasked with maintaining our AWS-hosted database and scripts and expand on these when needed. Besides that, you’re tasked with identifying inefficiencies or impossibilities within the current workflows, finding pragmatic solutions to these problems and implementing them.

Requirements

• You are familiar with programming practices and know what it takes to translate a problem to code. Knowledge of Python is a plus.
• You know how to build and maintain SQL databases (PostgreSQL is a plus)
• Experience with Amazon AWS or other on -demand cloud computing platforms is a plus
• Analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information
• Problem solving skills including innovative thinking, initiative, flexibility and resilience
• Proactive, autonomous person who can travel to our office in The Netherlands
• Study / Work Abroad Experience is a plus: it is vital that you truly understand what information international students are looking for from an international experience
• Very good written/spoken communication skills in English
