Job Role Summary
Meets with process owners and members of each business department and acquires thorough knowledge of each unit's operations and procedures. Working independently, he then documents integral processes/procedures including steps to be taken to perform the process/procedure, applicable references, and internal controls relevant to the process/procedure.
After completion of each document (SOP, new tool documentation, policy documents), the policy writer presents the manual to the persons designated to approve it and makes changes to the draft as needed.
Once approved, the policy writer may then partner with the training responsible to integrate newly created documentation into the training plan.
Ideal candidate
Excellent writer, preferred experience writing SOPs
Ability to deliver high quality documentation (in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences) paying attention to detail
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
The Knowledge Specialist must possess or obtain in-depth familiarity with industry-specific standards and methods
Savvy with Microsoft Suite software
Individual must be a self-starter, highly motivated and creative at overcoming obstacles and creating results
Well-organized, team player that works efficiently with others
Knowledge of general business procedures is a plus
Familiarity with a document management system or a KMS is a plus
