Purpose Statement
Plans to manage the supplier quality function to ensure processes are consistent with strategies and vision. Develop and implement appropriate data driven reporting measurement systems, inclusive of; toolsets, key metrics, and business processes. Responsible for initiatives to minimize the cost of poor supplier quality, and justify and improve resource allocation.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Supplier Quality Management System - Management of supplier quality systems and tools, inclusive of verification of purchased product processes, NCM, SCAR, supplier performance data collection and flowdown requirements.
- Supplier Performance Monitoring - Monitoring of regional supplier quality performance metrics to identify supplier performance issues and drive appropriate supplier development actions or risk mitigation.
- Supplier Development - Contribute to defining supplier assessment and development criteria, leads the region with respect to execution of assessments and monitoring closure of development actions to ensure supplier capabilities meet current and future strategic growth requirements related to regulatory and Quality Management System requirements and applicable process/product qualification and controls.
- Supplier Approval – Leads the region with respect to execution of assessment and development activities as required to ensure supplier capabilities meet current and future strategic growth requirements including regulatory and customer Quality Management System requirements and applicable process/product qualification and controls. Final decision maker on Supplier Approval within region.
- Part Qualification – Lead the region with respect to supplier assessment and development activities as required to ensure supplier capabilities meet requirement for process/product qualification and controls. Assess part qualification requirements for full value stream, new Customer programs to ensure appropriate are assigned at the part number level. Manage protocols and review/approve results when process validation is required as part of qualification activities.
Additional Accountabilities
- Strategy - Contribute to defining, execution and maintaining consistent global Supplier Quality strategy and structure to develop key supplier capability for strategic growth and supplier processes to enable flawless execution. Propose additions to, review, and approve all Supplier Quality QMS documentation
- Material Issues - Support site escalations related to problematic suppliers/material issues through on-site audits, SCAR analysis and customer/supplier communication forums. Responsible for addressing systemic supplier issues within region (ex. issues identified through Supplier scorecards or standard reports) and addressing through appropriate means ex. SCAR, QIP.
- Supplier Add & Onboarding - Contribute to defining assessment criteria across the areas of Quality Management Systems, Counterfeit Avoidance and Industry Problem Advisory tools (GIDEP, ERAI) to mitigate supplier risk when adding to AVL and supplier onboarding.
- Additional duties as assigned by management.
Education/Experience Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Seven (7) years of related experience is required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.
Other Qualifications
- Employee must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Reference Leveling Matrix for detailed skills requirements.
- Detailed knowledge of ISO, AS9100, TL9000, ISand FDA GMP Quality System requirements required for this role.
- Formal Quality certification (CQE, CQM) preferred for this role.
Work Environment
- The work setting should consist of an office environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and a low noise level.
