ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

This role is role of R2R Data Steward is a critical, development role within D&A Team reporting directly to Head of EDM Strategy. The incumbent is expected to be self-starter and objectives driven, possesses very good communication skills to engage with partners at different seniority levels.

R2R processes and data requirements awareness and understanding are core to the success of anyone taking this role. You are expected to provide thought leadership and objective evaluation of impacts on data in relation to any proposed process changes. You are a driver of the data governance processes for R2R data.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR 

• Work in close collaboration with Global Data Owners and Process Experts to ensure all data elements are correctly defined and enforced in BAT landscape systems;
• Responsible for the end-to-end coordination and delivery (“stewardship”) of the conceptual design, definition, templates, quality criteria and master data process for effective R2R global master data standards governance across BAT’s key information systems;
• Accountable for the engagement and alignment of data standards and requirements with all relevant partners;
• Ensure that all data standardization issues reported are addressed and resolved through established processes;
• Ensure understanding and alignment to other functional standards (notably Finance, Operations, Brand Marketing and Product), to ensure an overall consistent Group approach to master data standards management;
• Ensure Finance Data Standards are correctly defined and captured for each market, as well as updated via standard processes;
• Assist DQ Managers to develop and promote data quality standards for data entry and reporting of these data.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE 

• Excellent knowledge of the BAT business and data operating model, at least 2-5 years working experience in the data space, with experience in R2R areas, technology or related subject (. MDM);
• Good understanding of SAP ECC environment, BPC & BI;
• Understand the criticality of tightly controlled data management and data quality processes;
• Intermediate IT competency level, technical skills are required to fully understand implications of proposed BAT TOM & Template Design changes, as well as to understand the functionality of the BAT Data Quality Reporting tool;
• Ability to identify, initiate and lead work on multi-functional data issues; Capability to estimate the resources needed to achieve your own work plans or objectives and to deliver them in the most efficient and cost-effective way, often within very tight deadlines;
• Strong relationship, influencing and interpersonal / communication skills (English is a prime communication language);
• Very fast learner, with agile demeanor, unafraid to voice own opinion and back it up with strong, fact-based evidence;
• Inquisitive, resilient and prepared to take lead on agreed change initiatives.

BENEFICIAL

• Data management experience, including in-depth knowledge of data modeling, data integration, data configuration, and general database concepts is highly desirable but not required.
• Proven competence in project management techniques (PRINCE2) and work prioritization is an added asset.
