Senior Software Engineer – Threat Simulator

Threat Simulator is a live production Threat Protection, Data Security, Visibility validation product.  It will allow customers to execute assessments between zones, providing a score.  It will also perform validation between to zones, letting the customer know strengths and weaknesses found.  They can then run continuous validations that will update with latest intelligence findings from the ATI team.  The customer will be guided with recommendations, and mitigation techniques when known, for them to act.

As a Senior Software Engineer in Ixia’s Threat Simulator team you will be developing the infrastructure to run techniques used in our products that help keep our customers secure. You will be developing software for globally deployed systems in the hybrid cloud and on premise, working with a team of elite engineers and security researchers to save the universe from cyber security attacks and the bad guys who take advantage of the Internet for personal gain.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain tools and systems to develop Ixia’s threat intelligence knowledge base into Threat Simulator
• Developing high quality software independently and rapidly using mainly the Python programming language
• Taking part in defining new software product features
• Evaluating and integrating third party software
• Taking ownership and using your innovative ideas for the greater
• Contribute to our well-read blog about any technical topic of interest, including day-to-day work or outside interests, when possible

Requirements:

• Strong programming skills in Python
• A solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks)
• Experience with building distributed, scalable applications
• Creative problem-solving approach to projects

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with containers technologies
• Experience with Agile methodology
• Experience with Continuous Integration

Education and Experience:

• College degree in CS or EE or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of software development experience
