The JOB
We are looking for Software Engineers or System Administrators who are looking to transition into a career in Site Reliability Engineering. You’ll work closely with our Senior Site Reliability Engineer, giving you ample opportunity for mentorship and continuous learning and growth. The role is an integral part of the engineering team - you’ll be working directly with software engineers to design, build and run high quality, reliable software systems to our customers.
We believe Site Reliability Engineering is a discipline whose focus is on the entire lifecycle of a software application. SREs have a hand in the design and development of software but that’s only a fraction of what makes a successful and reliable production system. How do you run that software in production? How do you observe the health of the software? How do you safely make changes to that system while it's running? How do you ensure your team can react properly when the inevitable outages occur?
In terms of our tech stack, we’re container based, running on ECS Fargate supported by Amazon Aurora, CloudFront and S3 for our front-ends. Our infrastructure is provisioned with Pulumi and we use a mix of CircleCI, Github Actions and Codefresh for our CI/CD.
About YOU
We’re looking for engineers with strong technical ability who have some experience with DevOps, Systems Administration or SRE and are looking to take the next step in their software engineering career. You’ll need the ability to communicate and collaborate with a distributed team. You'll have a continuous learning approach and be looking to expand your knowledge and skills in the field of SRE. It’s ok if you’ve not worked as an SRE before, we’re looking for people excited about technology who are eager to learn.
To be successful in this role, we think you'll need experience in:
- Working closely with a software engineering team
- Cloud engineering, preferably AWS
- At least one Infrastructure as Code tool (eg CloudFormation, Terraform, AWS CDK)
- Containerisation, preferably Docker and/or Kubernetes
- Some experience writing code
- Automated deployment and CI/CD
It’d be a bonus if you’ve also got experience in:
- IT Incident Management
- Load testing
- Performance Tuning
Our OFFER
- Excellent salary
- A top-notch Learn and Development program
- AWS certifications
- Company trips away and nights out - nice dinners in open air restaurants for #socialdistancing measures
- Central and cheerful office environment, but really, you will work in the spaciousness and comfort of your own #stayathome experience
- Great coffee (espresso, cappuccino, latte) and a kitchen packed with tea, refreshments and fruits - all irrelevant at this time, but highly effective in general
