Systems Evaluation Scientist

The Systems Evaluation Scientist position represents an exciting opportunity for an experienced scientist to perform evaluation of novel technologies utilizing analytical and preparative SFC/LC/MS applications. The candidate will work closely with R&D organizations to support evaluation projects to enhance Waters position in a highly dynamic market.

As a Systems Evaluation Scientist, what will you be doing?

• Develop and formulate evaluation test strategies.
• Analyze requirement and specification documents to develop and execute test cases.
• Set up, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and conduct periodic qualification of UPLC, LC, SFC and LC/MS instrumentation.
• Maintain records and documentation of evaluation activities, provide required reports.
• Interact with R&D during the development of new instrumentation and software.
• Present at internal meetings when appropriate.
• Mentor less experienced scientists, junior staff members and students.

What experience will you ideally have to be a successful Evaluation Scientist?

• Degree in analytical chemistry or related discipline.  Masters or preferred
• Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry in the development of chromatographic separations using SFC, GC, mass spectrometry and/or preparative scale chromatography.
• Experience in method development and purification techniques are highly desirable.
• Expertise in various types of separations techniques for small molecules, peptides, proteins (. HPLC, UPLC, SFC etc.).
• Experience in mass spectrometry theory and applications.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills are required.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects.
• Familiarity with Waters products and/or software is highly desirable.
