Technical Project Manager

At the Amazon Development Center, Bucharest, part of Amazon Web Services (AWS), we work on global-scale compute platforms, with special focus on trusted compute, serverless & container virtualization technologies and server fleet tooling for AWS EC2. As a part of the EC2 Instance Platforms organization, we invent, own, and drive the building blocks that are the foundation of the cloud.

We are looking for a passionate, customer-focused, self-driven Technical Project Manager to join our software development teams working on high-performance virtual machine monitors, hypervisor security systems, and system management software that power AWS.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 5+ years of applicable project management, or similar business experience.
· Experience with agile techniques
· Demonstrable experience developing and implementing process improvements
· Good understanding of Linux and virtualization
· Proven experience leading cross-organizational programs and ability to set and hold teams and individuals to timelines and deliverables without explicit authority
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Bachelor’s degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience with Linux and ability to write command line scripts and automate as much as you can
· Familiarity with the different AWS services

We are looking for a proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically, and someone who is excited to take on new, ambiguous projects. This position requires a solid technical background, and the candidate should be customer-focused with a passion for the cloud, and be able to engage and collaborate with teams located in different time zones.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Drive initiatives and work closely with teams across the organization, including hardware, software, and network engineering as well as product management, data center operations, supply chain, procurement, and capacity management.
· Work closely with service owners and partner teams to understand product roadmaps and drive overall new product introduction schedules.
· Collaborate with partner teams to define deliverables, roadmaps, and accompanying documentation for ad-hoc projects and programs.
· Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risk and escalations, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
