UNIX/LINUX Administrator

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The main roles and responsibilities of this position include:
•Monitoring and management of *NIX servers in terms of availability, security, performance
•Troubleshooting and problem solving of OS related issues
•Performance analysis, tuning, capacity planning, provisioning and forecasting
•Plan, automate and roll out OS upgrades, patches and OS related changes
•Ensure effective and rapid response to Major Incidents
•Daily / Weekly / Monthly health checks

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

•Experience in administering LINUX and/or UNIX based OSs like RedHat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Solaris, IBM AIX etc
•Good shell / scripting skills ( bash, perl, python, etc )
•Good understanding of virtualization concepts and technologies
•Good understanding of networking concepts and technologies
•Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on projects
•Willing and able to learn quickly new skills and technologies.
•Good analytical skills, structured and methodical approach

PREFERRED SKILLS

•1+ year experience in administration of Linux OS (RedHat Enterprise Linux /Oracle Linux / SUSE Linux Enterprise Server)
•Experience in administration of Unix based OSs (Oracle Solaris/IBM AIX/HP-UX) is a great advantage
•Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to fix issues quickly

•Working knowledge of automation tools ( Puppet , Ansible , etc ) is an advantage

•Web Server administration knowledge (Tomcat, Apache, JBOSS application server) is an advantage
•Knowledge of virtualization technologies ( VMWare, LDOMs, LPARs, etc ) is an advantage
