VIRTUALIZATION SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT

The ideal person for this position will have 10+ years of experience working in large and complex IT environments. They will possess a firm grasp on IT services in general and be considered a subject matter expert in the area of virtualization.

• Proven experience as technology expert in a complex, security driven and technologically diversified environment, preferably in the high-tech arena

• Proven track of analyzing, structuring and simplifying complex landscapes with multiple technology layers
• Working experience in environments where users are savvy in (Information) Technology
• 10+ years of IT experience designing and implementing IT solutions in a multi-national environment
• Strong technical infrastructure knowledge including L2/L3 networking protocols (switching technologies, routing fundamentals, IP subnetting and Address Management, firewalling and load balancers)
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing and configuring VMware, including compute platforms and storage network
• Requires detailed knowledge on VMware ESXi, vCenter, vRealize, NSX, vMotion, vSAN
• Requires advanced scripting knowledge such as PowerCLI, Ruby, Python, Ansible & Rest API
• Business English is a must
• VMWARE Certified Professional is a preferred
• Experience with cloud platforms, AWS preferred
• Experience with IT security is preferred
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux-based platforms desirable

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the architecture meets user, certification, and IT service requirements
• Research and drive technological improvements in a cost-effective way that can be shown to have positive impact on the businesses
• Liaise with product owners, regional infrastructure leads and architects to assure overall fit & integration for the services managed
• Identify structural changes needed in the architecture and help define migration strategies and relevant roadmaps to implement
• Coordinate activities with business and third-party suppliers
• Provide insights in identifying new concepts, ideas, techniques, best practices, and technology
• Identify (potential) issues with virtualization architecture and liaise with stakeholders to initiate solutions
• Ensure virtualization systems are compliant within required security standards
• Analyze metrics pertaining to the R&D services within the scope of the infrastructure team and determine when/if changes or corrective actions are necessary
• Responsible to ensure that virtualization services meet requirements of reliability, availability, manageability, performance, and security
• Install, configure and manage VMware virtualization environment components (vSphere, vRealize, ESX, NSX)
• Oversee service maintenance such as upgrades, enhancement, and revisions
• Provide operation and sustainment support for the virtualization environment
• Provides support in case of major infrastructure incidents
• Work with the Infrastructure product owner for your region to collect and act upon user issues with infrastructure services (in collaboration with other regional peers)
