VMWare Solutions Engineer

We are seeking an experienced engineer for the test and integration of VMware operating systems and cloud platforms on servers and storage.

The candidate will be involved in debugging complex customer issues related to VMware platforms. The candidate will work closely with both the VMware and solution development and test organizations to develop the initial platform architecture and software stack, and ensure product readiness through timely defect resolution and communication to the broader development organization.
The candidate is expected to have a working knowledge of scripting languages, along with experience with VMware’s management tools. The candidate is also expected to have a working knowledge of x86 architecture (compute, network and storage). Candidates must be able to install and configure server hardware and be familiar with the VMware internals and OS architecture.

• Mandatory Skills: Scripting skills (at least one of Python, Perl, shell scripting, PowerCLI, vCLI)
  Good Linux administration skills
  Computer architecture knowledge (Memory hierarchy, processors, GPUs, etc.)
  Hardware-Administration, including Diagnosis, troubleshooting and debugging
  Excellent written and oral communications are required
  Self-motivated and able to work completely self-directed once training is completed
  Strong teamwork is essential, experience working as part of a broader, multi-cultural global team preferred.
• Nice-to-Have Skills:• Experience managing vSphere (ESXi) and vCenter virtual environments
  • Experience with VMware vSAN and hyper-converged solutions
  • Knowledge of VMware’s entire product portfolio is a plus
  • Passionate about server and virtualization technologies
